In my opinion, the correct answer is C. The simile suggests that Devon expects an exciting ride. Sitting in a rocket which is about to launch in outer space must definitely convey a feeling of excitement rather than boredom. On the other hand, this is a simile and not a metaphor because it includes the conjunction "like". While similes work according to the principle "A is like B", metaphors employ the principle "A is B".
