-8x³-2x²-12x-3
Separate terms into groups of two joined by +
(-8x³ - 2x²) + (-12x - 3)
Factor out the GCF but in each case you will factor out a negative with the GCF

-2x²(4x + 1) - 3(4x + 1)
Using the distributive property concept a(b + c) = ab + ac you can pull out (4x + 1)
(4x + 1)(-2x² - 3) is your answer

group the first two terms together and group the last two terms.
the first group you can take out a -2x^2, the second group you can take out a 3
so -2x^2(4x+1)-3(4x+1)
now take out the 4x+1, you have (-2x^2-3)(4x+1) or -(2x^2+3)(4x+1)
