what is the purpose for using the jaw thrust maneuver for delivering rescue breaths vs the head-tilt/chin-lift method

A jaw thrust can help one open the airways when there is a vulnerable injury like a spinal injury. This can make it so that the person giving the rescue breaths does not further injure the person that they are giving CPR to.
