What were two of Dr. Livingstone's reasons for exploring Africa?

Firstly he went to Africa as a Preacher in 1840 to care for and change the native peoples. Secondly, Royal Geographical society asked him to East Africa and try to conclude the source of Nile River (find controllable river that unlocked the center of Africa to European commerce and Christianity.
