Hi there! First, let’s convert the fractions into LCD by finding the LCM of 5 and 8, which is 40. Concert the fractions into 7 16/40 and 8 5/40. When you add both numbers, you get 15 21/40 and that is in simplest form. The sum is 15 21/40.
