The preamble explains the reason why the framers of the constitution made ur government republic. By doing this the founding fathers replaced the articles of confederation. The preamble along with the rest of the constitution over a period of 6 weeks.

They wanted to make sure the people understood that they were trying to help Americans and it was an introduction for the constitution because it gave an idea what they were trying to say... hope this helps
