Sectionalism played a large part in conflict and tension leading up to the Civil War. What is the concept of sectionalism?

sectionalism is loyalty to the interests of one's own region or section of the country, rather than to the country as a whole. So in the Civil War, people in the South were more inclined towards what was best for farming and plantation life, while the people in the North liked what was best for industrialization.
