the length of a rectangular park is 3 feet shoter than 3/2 times its width. if the length is 123 feet , what is the width of the park in feet?

We can write an equation for the length in terms of the width here and use that to solve the problem:

l=(3)/(2)w-3

Now substitute in the information that we know, namely
l=123:

123=(3)/(2)w-3

126=(3)/(2)w

84=w

So the width is 84 feet.
