First, let's write our division problem:

140/9=15 r5

The remainder in this problem is the number of people left over after the 15 vans are filled with 9 people each. We can use this answer to determine that the guides did not rent enough vans, as there will be 5 people who cannot fit in the 15 vans they rented.

Answer:

If i get a remainder different to 0, i will need the division result +1 van to transport all of my tourists.

Explanation:

We can divide the number of tourist with the capacity of every van, we then get number of vans we need to transport the tourists.

Number of vans = 140/9 = 15 with 5 as remainder.

In this problem, the remainder means the number of people that do not fix in the vans.

Think about it, if we continue the division, we get that we need 15.55 vans. This, of course is impossible. Then, to fit all of our tourists, we need 16 vans
