1) 5v + 4w = 1
2) 3v - 6w = 2

Mutliply (1) by 3 and (2) by 2:

1) 15v + 12w = 3
2) 6v - 12w = 4

Add the two equations:

15v + 6v = 3 + 4

21v = 7

v = 7 / 21

=> v = 1/3

Replace v = 1/3 on any of the equations and solve for w:

3(1/3) - 6w = 2

1 - 6w = 2

6w = 1 - 2

6w = - 1

w = - 1 / 6

Answer w = - 1 / 6
