The building which is located on the corner of second and Walnut Street where many delegates met to dine and talk about politics is named Drinker-Krider building. It was a 200 year old building built by John Drinker in 1751 and bought by a gunsmith John Krider in the 19th century.

In July 1952, however, this historic building was bought by Bookbinders and demolished it because of its poor structural condition.

Bookbinders hired Simon; s freshly appointed chairperson of the Philadelphia Historical Commission, to design a “meticulous copy” of the Drinker-Krider building that would allow them to expand their restaurant. In 1960, it was started to open two new venues: the “Signers’ Dining Room” and the “Hall of Patriots Banquet Room”. The reconstruction turned out not like what had been demolished
