The NEPHRIDIUM is the principle structure used by mollusks to maintain osmotic balance.
The phylum mollusca includes invertebrates such as snails, octopus, squids, etc. These live in marine and freshwater bodies and have several ways to maintain osmotic balance. Nephridium is a tube like structure which acts as an excretory and osmoregulatory organ.
