Plug in the points where the line intersect and that is your solution. In this case, (4,-3)

y= -1/2(x)-1
-3= -1/2(4)-1
-3=-2-1
-3=-3

y= 1/4(x)-4
-3= 1/4(4)-4
-3= 1-4
-3=-3

By looking at the graph, you get (4, -3) as the coordinate pair when you "draw" a line to the x-axis and "draw" a line to the y-axis
