What is the tone of this passage?

Gloria was confused. She still was not sure she wanted to go to college. How would she decide? On the one hand, she would leave home and live in a dorm, missing her friends, family, and her routine. On the other hand, she could be stuck in this small town forever, with very few opportunities. She felt stuck, almost trapped, and didn’t know what to do.
