What was the effect of the invention of the cotton gin on the United States in the first half of the nineteenth century?

when the cotton gin was invented, many workers used it. It replaced lots of manual labor. Instead of having people work with the cotton, they used the gin. Basically it replaced workers. Hope this helped a little bit. :)

It caused a rapid increase in slavery and also industrial growth.
