In general, how did the spread of farm mechanization affect the size of farms in the united states?

This allowed farms to grow larger as they could now do more work in a quicker fashion and feed more people. This also put more work on the machinery than on the farmers, where before farmers were out for many hours just to get a small amount of work done, they could accomplish more in the same time frame without it being as physically straining.
