2a-8=4
Add eight to both sides of equal sign.
2a=12
Divide both sides by 2
A =6
3b-8=10
Add eight to both sides of the equal sign.
3b=18

The answer is 12. This is because 4+8=12, and 12 divided by 2 is 6. Therefore a=6. 10+8=18, and 18/3 equals 6. Therefore, b=6. 6+6 is 12.
