Answer: 1,796

Explanation:

We are given that : At the chicken ranch this morning there were 7,149 chicks.

i.e. The number of new chicks before today = 7,149

Later today some more chicks hatched. now the ranch has 8,945 chicks.

i.e. The number of new chicks after today = 8,945

Then, By Subtraction operation

Number of new chicks hatched today = ( Number of new chicks after today) - (Number of new chicks before today )

= 8,945- 7,149 = 1,796

Therefore , the number of new chicks hatched today = 1,796
