Explanation:

The most prominent single ship engagement of the American Revolution began on 23rd September 1779. It was a duel between the John Paul Jones command, Bonne Homme Richard, and the HMS Serapis. The Serapis was a fifty gunship that gunned out the Bonne Homme Richard which was scarcely navigable.
