Jorge bought 16 apples for $8.00. Let x represent the number of apples purchased, and let y represent the total cost. Graph the line that represents the proportional relationship.

(it doesn't have a graph because i need to graph it)

x=16
y=8.00
8/16=0.5 (50 cents per apple)
y=0.5x+0

we know that

A relationship between two variables, x, and y, represent a direct variation if it can be expressed in the form
y/x=k or
y=kx

In this problem

Jorge bought
16 apples for
\$8.00

This is a direct variation problem

Let

x-----> the number of apples purchased

y-----> the total cost

y/x=k

The value of k is equal to the value of the slope m

Substitute

8/16=k

k=0.5(\$)/(apple)

The linear equation is

y=0.50x

using a graphing tool

see the attached figure

The answer in the attached figure

Jorge bought 16 apples for $8.00. Let x represent the number of apples purchased, and-example-1
