y-intercept: Let x = 0 and solve for y. Then y =2(0)^2 -(0) - 10 = -10. The y-intercept is (0,-1).

x-intercept: Let y = 0 and solve for x.
Then 0 = 2x^2 - x - 10. a=2, b= -1 and c = -10.
-(-1) plus or minus sqrt[ (-1)^2 - 4(2)(-10)
Then x = ------------------------------------------------------------
2(2)
1 plus or minus sqrt(81) 1 plus or minus 9
x = ----------------------------------- = ---------------------------
4 4

Calculate the 2 x-values. Let's call them "a" and "b." Then the x-intercepts (there are 2) are

(a, 0) and (b, 0)
