Use a pencil to underline what you take to be the main point of the original text, or make notes on another sheet of paper. If you are summarizing an entire essay, outline the person's argument. Now tell your audience what the original source was saying.

You should add details to your essay that's from the story. Give information of where you found that information. Then state more details to make it more interesting.
