What is the sum on 1/9, 2/3, and 5/18?

STEP 1
= 1/9 + 2/3 + 5/18
change each fraction to a common denominator; 18 is the lowest common denominator (LCD)

* to change 1/9 to LCD of 18:
18÷9= 2; multiply 2 by numerator of 1; new fraction equals 2/18


STEP 2
= 2/18 + 12/18 + 5/18
add numerators only

= (2 + 12 + 5)/18

= 19/18


ANSWER: B) 19/18

\frac {1}{9} + \frac {2}{3} + \frac {5}{18}

=>
(1(2) + 2(6) + 5(1))/(18)

=>
(2 + 12 + 5)/(18)

=>
(19)/(18)
