You replace x with 1, so this looks like:
-4(1) + 7
-4 * 1 also equals -4, so, -4(1) + 7 = -4 + 7. -4 is the slope (down 4 to the left 1), and 7 is the y-intercept, so there should be a point on 7 on the up and down line which is y.

Hi there!
To find f(1), plug in x=1 into the equation
f(1) = -4(1) + 7
= -4 + 7
= 3
That's your answer.
