No one knows for sure but But here are two theories Disease, and attacks from Native Americans. They have dug up artifacts but really not anything that would have help tell what happened to them although they did find a Native American site nearby. My best guess is that Native Americans got them and drug them off somewhere and left them there and many Historians agree to that as well.
