Dred Scott was a cival rights activist and he was involved in the supreme court case because he was fighting for his rights and his familys' rights since he was black. The Decision of the court was first Yes! but then they changed to a no but later on Abe Lincoin gave him his freedom sadly Scott died and he did not have much time to enjoy his freedom.

Hope this helps!

Dred Scott was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court on US labor law and constitutional law. It held that "a negro, whose ancestors were imported into [the U.S.], and sold as slaves",[2][3] whether enslaved or free, could not be an American citizen and therefore had no standing to sue in federal court
