Take the equation and put it into ax² + bx + c = 0.

3x² + 4x - 6 = 0

a = 3
b = 4
c = -6

The quadratic formula is :

x = -b ± √b² - 4ac / 2a

Substitute the values.

x = -4 ± √4² - 4(3)(-6) / 2(3)

x = -4 ± √16 + 72 / 6

x = -4 ± √88 / 6

x = -4 ± 2√22 / 6

Simplify the equation by factoring out the 2.

x = -2 ± √22 / 3

Solutions :

x = -2 + √22 / 3

x = -2 - √22 / 3
