Javier is cooling a liquid in a science lab. The liquid starts at 85 degrees, and he cools it 3.5 degrees every minute for 12 minutes. Create a number sentence to model this scenario.

The equation that can be used in order to represent the scenario presented above is,

T(x)= 85 - 3.5x

Where T(x) is equal to the temperature at any given point and x is the number of minutes (The values of x range from 0 - 12. Solving for these values,

T(0) = 85 - 3.5(0) = 85
T(1) = 85 - (3.5)(1) = 81.5
T(2) = 85 - (3.5)(2) = 78

The list will then be completed as,
85, 81.5, 85 up to 43.
