Hello, d is the distance (total distance) an t the time (seconds of the timer).

So, we have that the total distance after 2 seconds is 35.

So put 35 as d...2 is the time so put 2 as t.

Write the equation as slope-intercet form d = mt + q

35 = 2m + b

5 is the d-intercept and the known term because the car travels 5 feet after the timer starts.

Solve it as a normal equation...

35 = 2m + 5

35 - 5 = 2m

30 = 2m

m = 30/2 = 15

Rewrite it as slope-intercept form...

d = 15t + 5

If we have to find the distance after 10 seconds, substitute 10 to t

d = 15(10) + 5

d = 150 + 5 = 155 feet
