Answer: Our required probability is 12%.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Probability of being selected as the captain of the baseball team= P(A) = 60%

Probability of being selected as elected student body president = P(B) = 20%

We need to find the probability of being selected as the captain of the baseball team and will be elected student body president.

Since both the events A and B are independent events.

So, it becomes,

P(A\cap B)=P(A)* P(B)=0.6* 0.2=0.12* 100\%=12\%

Hence, our required probability is 12%.
