The length of a train car is 50.6 feet. this is 5.8 feet less than six time the width. what is the width?

Let x be the width of the train;

50.6ft =6x-5.8ft <--- solve for x
50.6+5.8=6x
56.4 ft=6x
56.4/6=x
9.4 ft = x

Therefore the width of the train is 9.4 ft
