what price for a pair of sandals is $49.95 in june. in august the price is 60% less.which expression gives the price of the sandals in august

First, you would need to create an equation for this problem (I think that is all you have to do, but I'll solve it anyway). Remember, 60% = 0.6
$49.95 - ($49.95 × 0.6)

Now, all you have to do is solve it. Using the order of operations (PEMDAS), you would start in the parenthesis.
$49.95 - ($49.95 × 0.6)
$49.95 - $29.97 = $19.98

The sandals cost $19.98 in August.
