Given the equation: x + 2y = -4

Solve for y mean , make the term y in one side

x + 2y = -4

subtract x from both sides

x + 2y - x = -4 - x

2y = -x - 4

Divide both sides by 2

2y/2 = (-x - 4 )/2

y = (-1/2) x - 2
