Start with the known/given information:

"the length is 7 feet shorter than 5 times the width"
We can write this as:

l=5w-7

We also know that area is width times length:

A=wl

Now we can substitute our expression for
l:

A=wl

A=w(5w-7)

And there we go, our answer is 'A'.
