We know that the perimeter of any shape is found by adding up the distance all the way around the shape. For a rectangle (like a picture frame) this is equal to twice the width plus twice the length:

P=2w+2l

We can find our answer by direct substitution of known values:

P=2(83cm)+2(42cm)

P=166cm+84cm

P=250cm

We can then convert to meters:

250cm * (1m)/(100cm) = 0.25m

The perimeter of the picture frame is 0.25m.
