first we have to find the slope of line q
(1,1)(-5,3).......slope formula : (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)
slope = (3 - 1) / (-5 - 1) = -2/6 = -1/3

A perpendicular line will have a negative reciprocal slope. All that means is " flip " the slope and change the sign.
so the perpendicular line will have a slope of 3....see how I flipped -1/3 making it -3/1...and then changed the sign, making it 3/1 or just 3

so ur answer is : the perpendicular line will have a slope of 3
