your first step is to add 3x to both sides it would cancel on the left and be added to the right so it would look like this 14=7x then you would divide 14 by 7 and your answer would be x=2 or 2=x

14 - 3x = 4x
Flip
4x = 14 - 3x
Add both sides by 3x
7x = 14
Divide both sides by 7
x = 2
