Solve for x.

9x=5x+20

i thought i needed to do it like this
9x = 5x + 20
9x = x25
then divide both sides by 9
but idk i get a weird number and i have to put the answer in a box so i have no options.

Hello! In order to solve this problem, you must subtract 5x from both sides to get 20 by itself. When you do that, you get 4x = 20. Now, divide each side by 4 to isolate the "x". When you do, you get x = 5. Your error had to have been that you added 5x into 20, but those numbers are not like terms. That's how you got an odd number. The answer is x = 5.

Subtract 5X from both sides

4x=20
Now divide both sides by 4 so you only have x
x=5

REMEMBER: You do the same thing to both sides.
