SOLUTION

We want to use interquartile range to identify the outliers in the data set.

Outliers are simply data or numbers whose values are far from the data set.

Let us arrange the data in ascending order

This is


66,73,74,75,76,77,84

Now, the meddian is the middle number which is 75

The first quartile is middle number between 66 and 74. This is 73

The third quartile is the number between 76 and 84, which is 77.

The interquartile range is 3rd quartile - 1st quartile


77-73

So the outliers; that is number far from the data set are 66 and 84

As you can see that 66 is so small compared to the list of data 73, 74 etc

And 84 is so large compared to the data set 75, 76, 77

Hence, the answer is 66 and 84 are outliers

The first option is the correct answer.
