43 = 4 tens and 3 ones. (:
10 + 10 + 10 + 10 = 40
1 + 1 + 1 = 3
40 + 3 = 43

You can regroup 43 into 4 tens and 3 ones.
There are 4 tens in 40 and 3 ones in 3.
Add them together and you get 43.
