Answer: 3.5 meters

Explanation:

Given : The volume of a new pond =
7.35\ m^3

The length of a new pond = 4.2 m

The depth of the pond = 50 cm =0.5 m

Let the width of the pond be 'w'.

The volume of cuboid is given by :_

V=l* h* w\\\\\Rightarrow\ 7.35=4.2*0.5* w\\\\\Rightarrow\ w=(7.35)/(0.5*4.2)\Rightarrow\ w=3.5

Hence, the width of the pond = 3.5 meters

volume = length x width x depth

50cm = 0.5 m

7.35 = 4.2 x 0.5 x X

7.35 = 2.1 x X

x = 7.35 / 2.1

x = 3.5

width = 3.5 meters
