Because preschoolers have difficulty distinguishing between their desired and their actual competence, they usually rate their own ability as extremely high. Since these preschoolers are still at a very young age, they cannot fully grasp and understand the extent of their abilities. As a result, they feel that they are capable of accomplishing tasks.
