Exponential growth is the function

y = a^(x) , a\ \textgreater \ 1
Exponential decay is the function

y = a^(x) , 0\ \textless \ a\ \textless \ 1
So, the basic difference is that in growth the base is more than 1, and in decay the base is more than 0 but less than 1.
