A pine tree grows at a rate of 1.5 feet per year. James plants a 2-foot tall pine tree in his yard. How many years will it take for the tree to be at least 14 feet tall?

First, you would need to know the equation is 1.5x+2=14. Solving this would get you the answer. First, you subtract 2 from each side getting 1.5x=12. Then you have to divide both sides by 1.5 getting your answer x=8.

8 years. Beacuse 14-2=12 and then 12÷1.5=8.
