He was Georgia's first royal governor, serving from 1754-1757, but his style of command angered many colonists and led to his recall in 1757.

Hi!

John Reynolds was the first royal governor that served from 1754 to 1757.

Reynolds was a British man appointed to rule in Georgia, but his council became very agitated because of his leadership style. By 1757, Reynolds was voted off and was sent back to England.

To replace him, the board sent lieutenant governor, Henry Ellis.
