The latter is known as
outcome
simulation.
Outcome simulation obviously has to do with the results, or the outcome of a particular situation. So the outcome in this situation was visualizing an A on the grade list and feeling proud, but it was revealed that academic performance has to do with visualizing studying rather than the outcome itself.
