How is the shape of a neuron suited to its purpose?

The purpose of a neuron is to receive information, and then determine where to send the message of that information (e.g. to a muscle). The shape of a neuron is suited for this because it has a shape that looks like tree branches which allow it to receive and send messages at a very fast rate in order to achieve its purpose.
