To calculate the unit rate:

{(1/6) ÷ (1/3)] ft/hr .

Note:

{(1/6) ÷ (1/3)] = {(1/6) * (3/1)]} = (1*3) / (6*1) = 3/6 = (3÷3)/(6÷3) ;

= 1/2 ; or 0.5.

1 hour=1/6+1/6+1/6
1 hour=3/6
1 hour=1/2

for every hour, the snail moved 1/2 a foot
