Well at that point, people just took the priests word on what the bible said, and how you should worship god. he helped encourage people to learn for themselves and that Catholicism as a whole was corrupt. Now they could read for themselves god word and live accordingly to his commands, and not the churches. He gave people the option of not following the Catholics, and changed views on religion and Christianity as a whole forever.
