Is it possible to have carbon atoms with different numbers of protons?

Hello There!

No, it is not possible.
If it is isotopes you are referring to, then they have the same atomic number.
This means they have the same number of protons and electrons.
Only the mass number is different.
This would mean the atom has a different number of neutrons.
